Ultrasound
What is an ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a safe, painless, and noninvasive diagnostic examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of structures inside the body.
During examination, a small amount of gel is applied to the skin, and a handheld device called a transducer (probe), is gently moved over the area being examined. The transducer sends sound waves into the body and receives the echoes that return. These sound waves are then processed by a computer to produce real- time images that can assist healthcare providers in evaluating blood vessels, organs, and other structures.
Ultrasounds does not use ionizing radiation, which means there is no radiation exposure to the patient during the examination.

Vascular Venous Duplex Exam
The Vascular Venous ultrasound exam is to search for Blood Clots in the lower and upper extremities. This condition is often referred to as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). These blood
clots may break off and pass into the lungs, where they can cause a dangerous condition
called Pulmonary Embolism. If the blood clots are found early , treatment can be started to
prevent it from passing to the lung. Superficial blood clots are found in the superficial veins
and Varicosity veins in the legs and arms. These blood clots in the superficial veins are called Phlebitis.

Vascular Arterial Duplex Exam
The Vascular Arterial ultrasound exam is to search for narrowing and blockage of the arteries that cause poor blood flow circulation. The arteries carry blood to the organs and muscles. Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is arterial disease, which is due to Atherosclerosis and Plaque that is cause by Smoking, High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure etc.
